Young Adults’ Conversations: “World Values vs Christian Values” September 11, 2026

“Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of the mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2).

The Lord’s Flock Catholic Charismatic Community hosted its first Conversations Foundation Topic “World Values vs Christian Values” for the Young Adults Group last September 11, 2026, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00p.m. at the Koinonia Lounge of The Lord’s Flock Heritage Center. The Young Adults Stewards were united in one mission for the Lord, to guide the young members of the community with the fundamental differences between secular cultural priorities and biblical principles.

Sis. Judelyn Retiro and Sis. Claudine Fontanilla warmly welcomed the participants, while the Koros and Psalm Ministry led the opening Praise & Worship. Thereafter, the dynamic duo, Sis. Dr. Edel Patdu and Bro. Nelson Payos facilitated the icebreaker: they asked everyone to find a partner and think about this question: “If you could retain only one sense forever (sight, hearing, touch, taste or smell) which one would you choose and why?” Then, the facilitators requested them to share their answers with their respective  partners.

Subsequently, Bro. Nelson introduced the speaker, Dr. Grace Pancho, (from stethoscope to microphone) who graciously combines her talent for healing the body and her heart for serving the Lord. A pulmonologist by profession, she has been rooted in the Lord’s Flock since she was 5 years old. She is an instrumentalist in the Music Ministry and a favored speaker specially for the youth. She started with an engaging question for reflection: “Ano ang top 3 na pinapahalagahan mo sa iyong buhay ngayon? (What are the top 3 that you value in your life today?)”

Thereafter, Sis. Grace spoke about the worldly trends that have redefined the seven (7) deadly sins and specifically talked about three of them:

  • Point 1:  Pride – “Main Character Energy”; Greed – “Gatekeeping”; Envy – “Pocket Watching”
  • Point 2: She invited everyone to check their hearts by asking the question: “Are you living for material trends or for heavenly treasures?” (Matthew 6:21). She further emphasized: “Do not be conformed to this world” (Romans 12:2).
  • Point 3: Grace followed it up with a workshop: “List down 3 things that are being normalized in our present context? Search on Google about what the Bible is saying about this lie.”

Her last workshop was a “heart check”: “reflect on your top 3 priorities and realign them with God’s will.”

The session ended with a “standing in the gap prayer for one another.”  A lively group photo was also taken for memories to treasure.

Finally, the Pastoral Ministry’s goal is to guide the young adults to recognize the subtle cultural pressures that conflict with biblical teachings. Indeed, it was a perfect time for all to reflect which of the “modernized sins” were the most difficult to give up to personally realign their lives according to God’s plan.

To God be the Glory!
