The Culminating Event The Lord’s Flock 40th Anniversary Celebration April 26, 2026

The 40th Anniversary of The Lord’s Flock: “Across Generations, Beyond Borders” was a month-long, memorable, and joyful celebration that beautifully reflects four decades of God’s faithfulness.  With grateful hearts, the congregation gathered once again last Sunday, April 26, 2026, to participate in the Culminating Program, Thanksgiving Mass, and Thanksgiving Dinner-Dance.

Culmination Program

The afternoon program at the Heritage Sanctuary started with a spirit-filled praise and worship led by Sis. Salve Labrador and the Psalm Ministry.  Thereafter, the lively pair of moderators, Bro. Riccon Leonardo (a homecomer) and Sis. Judith Almendrala (Outreach Ministry Steward) enthusiastically welcomed everyone to enjoy the program. They invited some guests to share their experiences from the celebrations of the past three Sundays.

Subsequently, as the invited priests started to arrive for the holy mass, Sis. Techie Rodriguez, (Elder-Founder) introduced the homegrown priests (priests who were members of the Lord’s Flock during their younger years) who are currently assigned to different dioceses in the country.  Thereafter, Bro. Froilan Hong (Co-Founder)  gave the welcome remarks and thanked those who participated in the past four weeks’ activities.

This was followed by a video presentation of the April 11th “Homecoming” (a special celebration inviting lapsed members to reconnect with the community) which was so heartwarming because of the background songs, “Maligayang Pagbabalik” and “We Are Coming Home,” whose lyrics were written by the talented, Bro. Riccon, a homecomer himself.  A short recap video was also shown of the April 18th  “Open House” wherein TLF welcomed neighbors and nearby parishioners to learn more about the community, avail of  the free Medical / Dental Services and “Libreng Gupit” and join the Zumba and Youth Dance Workshop, Small World/Kids activities; and finally,  and  partake of the free lunch while enjoying the fellowship.  This was  followed by the Lord’s Flock Primer, featuring the Lord’s Flock Community’s vision, mission, programs and leaders.

The program concluded with a vibrant performance – “Tugtog ng Panahon”   by the Koros Ministry, who energetically executed the evolution of dance for the past 40 years. Their dynamic and electrifying dance performance brought the house down.

The Thanksgiving Mass

His Excellency Most Rev. Bishop Elias Ayuban (Diocese of Cubao) led the celebration of the Thanksgiving Mass. He was joined by Fr. Rhen Caculitan, Parish Priest of St. Jude, and some of our homegrown priests – Fr. Richard Jojo Sultura (Romblon), Fr. Erwin Loquindo (Manila), Fr. Jose Espano (Manila), Fr. Argie Nene (Cebu), Fr. Arvin de Jesus (Manila), Fr. Jesus Englis (Pasig), and Fr. Popo Perey, a pioneer member when TLF started in 1986 (Cavite).

In his homily, Bishop Elias, explained that we have a God who calls us, but we have to listen with the heart, so that the Word of God can reach deep into our hearts. He added that listening makes no sense if it does not lead to obedience.  Further, we are like the sheep that get lost again and again because of our repeated sins. We, too, are vulnerable and defenseless to the works of the devil.  Thus, we need a Good Shepherd to lead us, who journeys with us in good and bad times.  Lastly, he said that what distinguishes Jesus as the Good Shepherd from any other shepherd is that He is ready to lay down his life for his flock.

Subsequently, several homegrown priests who were invited but could not make it sent video greetings: Fr. Jojo Buenafe (Manila), Fr. Mel Maayo (Antique), Fr. Erik Lakandula (SVD, Manila), Fr. Fernan Sabado, (LRMS, Manila), Fr. Moi Estacio (El Salvador), and Deacon Erwin Catigan (Tagaytay).

The priests who concelebrated the Mass also emotionally shared their spiritual journey that started in the Lord’s Flock and their experiences as priests. Their humor- and spirit-filled sharing delighted those who stayed after mass.

Finally, Sis. Techie emphasized that her vision has always been clear – to build not just an organization but a family grounded in purpose, integrity, and service; a place where every member feels valued, empowered, and driven to make a difference.  Seeing the vision come alive through its members is the greatest reward of God.  But this milestone is not just about looking back; it is about looking ahead.  The future calls everyone to dream bigger, reach further, and continue building on the community’s strong foundation.   She urged everyone to move forward with renewed passion, unity, and commitment.  The next chapter of the journey awaits, to reach the 50th year, and there is no doubt that it will be even more remarkable.  She thanked everyone for being part of this legacy with pride and gratitude.

To conclude, another video presentation was shown highlighting the legacy of the Council of Founders – Sis. Techie and  Tatay Bob Rodriguez, and Bro Froilan Hong.

Thanksgiving Dinner & Dance

The final activity of the day was a Thanksgiving Dinner-Dance that was held on the 10F Ballroom of Victoria Sports Hotel Tower, EDSA, Quezon City.  The warm welcome of the emcees, Bro. Dinky Florentino and Sis. Grace Lomarda (Council of Advisers and Overall Chairpersons of the 40th Anniversary Committee), made everyone feel appreciated, comfortable, and excited. The “Maria Band” added a festive atmosphere to the event by singing songs from the four decades.   TLF members and homegrown priests gamely sang with the band to everyone’s delight. Stories were exchanged and laughter filled the ballroom as all enjoyed the delectable food.  There were reminiscences and sharing of what the Lord has done in their lives.  Shortly after dessert, Bro. Froilan and Sis. Dinah Alcantara (armor-bearer) started the dancing frenzy and they were quickly  followed by the “young ones and the young once” who danced to the beat of the 1980s – 2000s medley. Happy faces filled the venue.  The joy and love in everyone’s heart could not be contained.

Indeed, God’s love and faithfulness was manifested during the celebration.  He must be pleased with every little service that was offered with obedience, cheerfulness, and a little sacrifice.

As the 40th Anniversary celebration ended, Sis. Techie released the mission of the Community into the hands of the members with trust and hope. She asked the community to lead with integrity, serve with joy, love without condition, and that may God always be glorified.

Truly, the vibrant energy each one showed throughout the month-long celebration was a sincere expression of gratefulness and hope for the next milestone. To the Elders-Founders, Tatay Bob and Sis. Techie,  “thank you” is an understatement, and may they continue to be a blessing to all.

To God be the glory!
