Father’s Day

By: Sis. Madz Sopungco

“Father’s Day“ which has always been a tradition in the Lord’s Flock was celebrated last June 27, 2021, through a virtual platform. The father and son duo, Bro. Mon and Bro. Jolo Baclig who was the program moderator hosted this joyous event participated in by local and international chapters from Hongkong, Canada, and New Jersey. Sis Lisa Angeles with her family led the joyful singing, followed by Bro. Jolo Baclig’s opening prayer. Fathers from PASTOR and SEND Ministries were welcomed and cheered, for it was a day to give honors to them – the beloved heads of the family.

The celebration started with an icebreaker entitled “Open the Doors”. The mechanics were given and everyone was encouraged to type their choices at the chatbox. The winners received a Php 200 Gcash. It was full of fun and everyone enjoyed it. The next segment was the “Father and Child Look-a-like Contest.” This was launched two months ago and had preliminary voting last July 4, 2021, using a point system.

Moreover, Sister Francine Mandin rendered a beautiful song entitled “I Love You I Do” by Jennifer Hudson as the eighteen candidates which were later trimmed down to five finalists were presented. The winner received a P2,000 cash prize.

On the other hand, a short video clip by Bro. Kent Galido in honor of Bro. Architect Froilan L. Hong, the Executive Head Servant, followed thereafter. A simple token from the PASTOR and SEND Ministries was given to Bro. Froi posted a big smile on his face. This celebration was truly loaded with surprises.

Similarly, The Execom “Daddies” presented an entertaining dance number to the tune of “Lalaki” by Hagibis.” Indeed, everyone was impressed with how these daddies could juggle and perform their duties at home, taking part in helping their beloved wives with the household chores. This is their favorite phrase, “Happy wife…happy life!”

Further, to complete this celebration, an honoring for the “Tatay” of the Lord’s Flock family was prepared by the committee. An original poem entitled “Bilib Ako sa Tatay Ko” was beautifully recited by the Barreda kids, Justin Paul, John Patrick, and John Carlo from the Small World. A short video presentation was displayed in honor of all the dedicated fathers of the Lord’s Flock who played an exemplary role in parenting, not just taking the position of a good provider, protector, disciplinarian, but as a guide in the spiritual growth of their children.

Likewise, frontliner Daddies were also recognized for putting their health and lives at risk of being exposed to the dangers caused by the pandemic. The celebration was also graced by Sis. Fatima Soriano from San Diego, singing “Everything I Own” by Bread. This was followed by an honoring and Father’s Day greetings for Tatay Bob and Bro. Froi from a group of anticipating/soon-to-be dads namely Bro. Ryan Regala, Bro. Neil Parreno, Bro. Zaldy Bersamina and Bro. Mervick Ong. Of course, this event would not be complete without Tatay Bob’s heartwarming message for all the fathers in the community and Soar praying over them. And to finally end the program, Sis. Grace Lomarda led the closing prayer.

Father’s Day is a holiday honoring fatherhood as well as the influence of fathers in society. It is a celebration that will always be a part of the Lord’s Flock annual calendar of events. It is an occasion when we honor the pillars of our families. A time in a year to honor the one who led us to the right path; the one who kept us safe from harm and the one who was with us all these years. ”I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me”, says the Lord Almighty (2 Corinthians 6:18).

To God be all the glory!!!

VERSE FOR THE DAY
