Youth Empowerment Seminar March 16, 2025

The Youth Empowerment Seminar (Y.E.S.) held last March 16, 2025, was organized by The Lord’s Flock Catholic Charismatic Community in partnership with Alpha Philippines. It aimed to inspire senior high school students to grow in faith, to build meaningful relationships, and to embrace personal development. Participants came from partner schools: Electron College of Technical Education (E.C.T.E.), Philippine Lyceum of St. Dominic (P.L.S.D.), and Children of Mary Immaculate College (C.M.I.C.). Y.E.S. combined worship, fun activities, group discussions, and creative performances that shaped an engaging and transformative experience for the youth.

Mika Concepcion and Klenth Rimando welcomed everyone with an Icebreaker and games like “Two Truths and a Lie” and “Eh Ikaw” that encouraged connections and boosted the energy of the groups. Through music and prayer, the Psalm Ministry led the Opening Worship and guided the participants in their spiritual reflection. Moreover, a video presentation introduced the Community and explained the role of charismatic communities in spiritual growth.

Then, the Alpha Series ensued. The students watched the first video “What Does Real Love Look Like?” They  discussed this question in their small group sharing sessions. The next one “When do you see evil?” encouraged open and meaningful conversations. The T.U.P.A. (Teatrong Ugnay sa Pangkristiyanong Adhikain) Ministry presented the skit titled “The Stool” a powerful  message of allowing God to lead in decision-making setting aside  selfish desires. This was followed by another segment of the Alpha Series, which offered deeper insights on faith and its role in daily life.

In addition, the discussion shifted to “What Makes a Good Friendship? sparking a dialogue on how true friendships reflect love and support. Students shared their thoughts on having a relationship with God and answered the question “What is the most meaningful gift someone has given to you?” This prompted them to reflect on the blessings they can be grateful for.  Thereafter, the Koros Ministry dramatized this topic through an interpretative dance that conveyed profound spiritual and emotional messages.

In the “Nuggets” session, long-time members of the community shared inspiring testimonies:

  • Miguel: “I was Lost; I was Found.”
  • Bea: “I was Mourning; Now I am in Joy.”
  • Camille: “I was Hopeless; Now I am Full of Hope.”

After a lunch break, Mika and Klenth returned with another Icebreaker, the “In or Out” Game to keep spirits high. The program continued with praise and worship, lifting everyone’s energy through songs of gratitude and joy. The Koros Ministry followed with an exciting Hype Dance, inspiring and energizing the participants.

The students then watched a continuation of the Alpha Series, exploring “Who is the Holy Spirit?” The discussion included topics like what superpower would they choose, who would they turn to for help, and which of the nine virtues—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—would be  most needed today. Participants also reflected on their thoughts about the Holy Spirit’s impact in their lives.

Sis Grace Pancho, Head Steward of Pastoral Ministry, wrapped up the seminar with a discussion on the significance of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, particularly the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Students learned how to receive the Holy Spirit through the steps: Admit, Ask, and Receive. The program peaked with the Baptism

The day concluded with the awarding of Certificates of Participation to the students. Truly, the Y.E.S., hosted by T.L.F. and Alpha Philippines, left a lasting impression and encouraged them to grow in faith and embrace their spiritual journey.
