Kingdom Works Outreach Activity Missionaries of the Poor (MOP) in San Andres Bukid, Manila | November 29, 2025

On November 29, 2025, the Kingdom Works Ministry (KWM) members under the Mission Ministry of the Lord’s Flock Catholic Charismatic Community (TLFCC), headed by their stewards, Sis. Baby Salazar and Sis. Thata Borromeo held their pre-Christmas charity event at the Missionaries of the Poor (MOP) located in San Andres Bukid, Manila, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This Outreach Activity brought immense joy to MOP and its beneficiaries as well as to KWM TLF.

The Missionaries of the Poor (MOP) was founded in 1981 by Fr. Richard Ho Lung, formerly a Jesuit priest in the slums of Kingston, Jamaica.  It is a lay religious Institute of Brothers of Pontifical Right, dedicated to the corporate works of mercy to the least, irrespective of creed, race, nationality, and culture.

MOP-Manila is located at the Divine Mercy Monastery and Apostolate Center which serves as a residential facility that caters to a total of thirty-eight (38) residents: eighteen (18) homeless elderly men and twenty (20) children/youth with special needs and diagnosed with cerebral palsy, all with age range between eight (8) to ninety-two (92) years old. They are individuals endorsed by DSWD and admitting hospitals post-discharge and were verified as qualified to become MOP residents after family visits and verification with the respective barangay.

Led by Bro. Ricardo Rinato, an Indonesian missionary, the MOP-Manila workers include sixteen (16) volunteers, one (1) nurse and two (2) social workers who provide round-the-clock care and service to the residents.

Prior to the departure from their meeting place at the Heritage Sanctuary, the group of KWM workers and volunteers recited the Binding Prayer, led by Sis. Judelyn Retiro, who also acted as the point person for the undertaking, along with Sis. Meg Abesamis.

As a unified outreach activity, the KW Ministry received an outpouring of immense support from various ministries and chapters with a total of forty-one (41) workers and volunteers:  representatives from the TLF East Hub, Holy Family Chapter, Heralds Ministry, St. Luke’s Ministry, Psalm Ministry, and Young Adults.

Moreover, Sis. Grace Pancho, Head Steward of the Young Adult, Sis. Camille Lee and Stewards were present to demonstrate the Young Adults’ solidarity with the KWM mission. TLF couple, Bro. Raymond and Sis. Peachy Nobleza  accompanied the workers and provided transportation service going to MOP-Manila.

Sis. Gina Duran and Sis. Stephanie Soriano, who ably and energetically served as event hosts, delivered the Welcome Remarks to commence the event and set the joyful atmosphere of music, games, special presentations, and gift-giving.

As a fitting gesture of praise and thanksgiving to God for the success of the event, Bro. Nico Moleta, Small Group Leader of the Young Adults led the Praise and Worship, and games followed thereafter. The residents joyfully listened and some even joined in singing the Christmas carols rendered by the event workers and volunteers.

To express their sincere appreciation to the KMW workers and volunteers, several elderly residents, including 92-year-old elderly serenaded the group with a lovely ballad song.

Overcoming their physical disability and filled with joy and appreciation, the MOP-Manila children and youth’s special and joyful presentation followed with their rendition of modern dance numbers and action song.

The KMW mission was highlighted by their generous donation (through the financial assistance and gifts from members of The Lord’s Flock Catholic Charismatic Community) of Jolibee meals, adult diapers, and cooking oil.

Moreover, the residents experienced the joys of Christmas in advance as they received grocery items from the outreach participants. Their grocery bags included groceries, crocs style slippers, Pediasure and Bear Brand milk.

In conclusion, Bro. Ricardo Rinato delivered his inspirational and thanksgiving message highlighting the MOP mission, their own community-based outreach activities to informal settlers by way of feeding programs, housing service, daily catechesis, medical mission, and Christmas gift-giving.

He meaningfully emphasized “love” being the center of their corporal works of mercy among residents because God’s love must transcend to the suffering and the poor. He further draws their inspiration from Christ’s teaching: “What you do to the least of your brothers, you do to me”(Mt. 25:40).

Finally, the KMW event has indeed allowed the workers and volunteers to share the message of Christmas, the message of love and solidarity, especially with the least of our brothers and sisters.

To God be the greater glory!

VERSE FOR THE DAY

so that it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. This life that I live now, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave his life for me.
