“Google It!” Training Walk-through

The Equip Ministry conducted an online “Google It! Training Walk-through” on June 13, 2021, 1 pm – 3 pm. Sis Maro Anyog, as the moderator introduced Sis Gina Duran, Equip Ministry Head Steward, who encouraged the participants to keep on learning new things. The attendees were mostly “seniors” who desperately needed technical training in Google. Bro Raymund, the Head Servant of Equip Ministry, took charge of the training assisted by Sis Wena & Sis Dennis Flancia. Bro Raymund focused his discussion on Google Mail, Google Docs, and Google Forms with an allotment of two hours.
Bro Raymund started the activity by asking the participants if they already had a Gmail account. He guided them step-by-step on using the search feature, creating a Gmail account, choosing the right password with emphasis on keeping one’s account protected. Likewise, Bro Raymund demonstrated how to log in, compose emails with an attachment, and send to several recipients. Although the majority of the participants had Gmail accounts, they still needed to be taught how to explore its various features.
Bro. Raymund also discussed the use of the Google Docs application and its important and useful features. He expounded that one can import, create, edit, and update documents and spreadsheets in various forms and formats. He created a document on Minutes of Meeting as an example, which has been very common in the LF ministries, and demonstrated how people could collaborate online and make comments simultaneously and in real-time.
On Google Forms, Bro Raymund explained that this app allows users to create and edit surveys online while collaborating with other users in real-time. With limited time left to discuss further, Bro Raymund used the Training Evaluation Form to illustrate the use of Google Forms by asking the participants to click the provided link in the chatbox and accomplish the evaluation form. The participants were informed that the collected information would be automatically entered into a spreadsheet similar to the LF Attendance Sheet Monitoring Form, accomplished after LF online major activity.
Finally, Bro Raymund assured the participants that the Equip Ministry will cater to the training needs of the various ministries upon request. Google It! Training Walk-through officially ended with a closing prayer by Sis Maro. Indeed, “Age doesn’t matter in learning, and it shouldn’t hold you back” (Deb’s story).
