On October 27, the Lord’s Flock Catholic Charismatic Community held the Spirit Empowerment Seminar – “Empowered Life”. The Community’s elder-founder and vision-holder, Sis. Techie Rodriguez (Soar) led this enriching event which focused on fostering deeper connections with God and igniting a powerful sense of purpose among attendees.
Opening Activities: Building Connections
The day began with an engaging icebreaker that encouraged participants to form groups of eight and introduce themselves. They shared their names, daily activities, and hobbies, which highlighted the importance of connection and understanding in building friendships. This foundational knowledge set the tone for the day.
A video presentation introduced The Lord’s Flock as a pioneering Catholic charismatic community, showcasing its heritage and the impact of its local and international chapters. The session transitioned into praise and worship, led by Bea Baclig and the Psalm Ministry; the attendees joyfully clapped, danced, and sang to “Let Praise Awaken” and were moved with “The More I Seek You.”
Purpose and Reflection
Following the worship, Sis. Techie addressed the seminar’s first topic: “Understanding our Purpose.” Drawing from John 15:16, she reminded attendees that they are chosen by God, and encouraged them to reflect on their individual journeys and the divine call in their lives. Furthermore, she emphasized that since they were called by the Lord, their presence that day was not coincidental; indeed, it is the Lord’s plan and perfect timing to introduce them to Him and the community.
As participants engaged in small group discussions, they reflected on personal areas where they desired God’s intervention. Sis. Techie and other facilitators moved among the groups and fostered an environment of sharing and support. She was hands-on in engaging with the attendees and showed them how welcoming The Lord’s Flock Community is.
Transformational Testimonies
As the seminar continued, Sis. Techie shared her personal testimony, and recounted her life before she accepted God. She described a life focused on self and material possessions. She believed she had control over everything – her life, her successes, her marriage, her family. She then recalled how the same seminar, then called “Life in the Spirit Seminar,” moved her and was her turning point into surrendering her life to God. She was given the vision of saving people and bringing them to safety, which led to creation of The Lord’s Flock. Through God’s grace, she learned that true fulfillment comes from surrendering to His will and love.
Her narrative emphasized that while we cannot change ourselves on our own, with God’s power, transformation occurs. She illustrated this point with her own struggles, including a battle with cancer; she affirmed her faith by stating, “Satan, you cannot kill my body because I am a child of God!” Thus, because of God’s grace and miracles, she is now a cancer survivor!
Key Takeaways of the Teachings:
- God’s Love: They are deeply loved and chosen by God.
- Separation from Sin: They need Jesus to bridge the gap created by sin.
- Personal Acceptance: They need to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.
- Community and Support: Fellowship is important as they grow in faith.
Baptism in the Holy Spirit
The highlight of the seminar was the Baptism in the Holy Spirit which was led by Lulu Perele (Heralds Ministry). Attendees were invited to renew their baptismal vows and immerse themselves in the Holy Spirit’s presence. This powerful experience symbolized a commitment to make Jesus the center of their lives.
Participants were encouraged to expect something good to happen – they will experience the Holy Spirit’s manifestations, which are likened to wind, fire, and water—elements that cleanse, empower, and bring new life. Several attendees shared their experiences and testified about visions of healing and forgiveness; many of them felt the love of God through warm embraces that welcomed them home.
Closing Reflection: The Power of Community
The seminar concluded with Bro. Froilan Hong’s (Co-Founder) sharing of the significance of community in their spiritual journey. He encouraged participants to share their experiences and transformations with others and reminded them that living a life aligned with Christ leads to profound changes. He also encouraged them to be witnesses of God’s love and miracles, and not to be shy in telling the world of the wonders and joys that God’s love brings to their lives. Finally, the SES participants were joined by the members of the TLF Community in a holy mass, which was celebrated by Fr. Ferdinand Alfante.
Indeed, the Spirit Empower Seminar was a transformative experience. The participants were empowered with renewed faith, a stronger sense of community, and an invigorated commitment to their spiritual journeys. As attendees departed, they carried with them the message of hope, love, and the promise of God’s unwavering presence in their lives.
To God be the glory!
