Elder’s Outreach Europe (Part 13): Madrid Chapter 9th Anniversary & Facing June 22-23, 2025

The Madrid Chapter was incredibly blessed to host their beloved Elder-Founder Techie “SOAR” Rodriguez, during her Catholic mission trip across Europe, with a heartwarming stop in Madrid, Spain, from June 22nd to 23rd, coinciding with two special milestones for The Lord’s Flock (TLF) Madrid: 9th Chapter Anniversary and Facing 2025.

Arriving from Rome at 1:00 p.m., along with Judith Almendrala (Outreach Steward), Soar was warmly welcomed by the chapter stewards, AJ Velasco and Letty “Mother” Matedios, at the Madrid-Barajas Airport. For a quick rest, they settled at the Puerta del Sol. Thereafter, they went to the Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Espino, which they fondly called “Tahanan,” where many Filipinos gather for Mass and where TLF Madrid holds its regular Praise and Worship every Sunday.

Soar wasted no time, as she began reaching out to the churchgoers at Tahanan, inviting them to celebrate with the Madrid Chapter. Initially, some were hesitant, but through the power of the Holy Spirit and Soar’s sincere faith, hearts were moved. One woman who had been suffering from headache the entire day was prayed over by Soar and was miraculously healed. Touched by the experience, she joined the celebration.

At the venue upstairs, Soar personally welcomed the new guests, offered them to partake of the dishes (food) prepared by the members, and encouraged them to introduce themselves and share in the fellowship. With seven (7) new faces in attendance, the atmosphere quickly became warm and joyful.

Moreover, Soar shared an inspiring message about deepening their relationship with God as well as their responsibility as Filipinos in Madrid — to be beacons of faith in the community. She reminded the participants of the power of example and how vital it is to show others the beauty of serving in a faith-based community like The Lord’s Flock.

After her faith-filled preaching, she led the Facing 2025 ceremony, where the community recognized the faithful service of the  2024 leaders:

  • AJ Velasco (Steward)
  • Meliza Larita (Coordinator)
  • Marvin Corpuz (Coordinator)

Soar, then, anointed new leaders for 2025:

  • Mother Letty Matedios (Steward)
  • Alyssa Daco (Coordinator)

Stewards, AJ and Bro. Marvin, will continue their respective roles (responsibilities), reinforcing the strength of their leadership team. The anointing was a moment of deep spiritual joy, as the new leaders stepped forward with passion and humility, ready to serve the chapter and God.

The evening concluded with shared laughter, gratitude, and stories – a beautiful moment of unity and celebration, overcoming even the heat of the Iberian summer.

After the Sunday fellowship and celebration, Soar and Judith returned to their hotel, where Stewards AJ and Marvin assisted them in packing their luggage, as they prepared to return to the Philippines.

On June 23rd, Stewards AJ, Vincent and Letty, brought them to the airport, not forgetting the traditional Spanish pasalubong — Manchego cheese and Jamón Ibérico.

As they bid them farewell at the airport, the Chapter stewards were filled with deep gratitude. Soar’s parting words and blessing reminded them that the outreach in Madrid — though brief — was truly a success.

Her visit strengthened their faith, re-energized their mission, and brought the whole community closer.

To God be the glory!

VERSE FOR THE DAY

so that it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. This life that I live now, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave his life for me.
