On 08 December 2024, The Lord’s Flock Catholic Charismatic Community Hong Kong Chapters (TLF-HK) attended the half-day Advent Gathering at the Caritas Hall, Caine Road, Hong Kong. The event, organized by the CHARIS HK (local arm of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal International Services) was participated in by around 150 members of various English and Chinese-speaking charismatic communities.
Maria Lachmi Rainchandani, CHARIS Moderator, opened the afternoon program with warm and cordial Welcome Remarks. Subsequently, the St. Joseph’s Filipino Prayer Group led a powerful and inspiring praise and worship that moved the attendees into a deep prayer and intimate fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
The guest speaker, Fr. Fabio Favata, P.I.M.E., Parish Priest of St. Patrick Church Kowloon, spoke about the glorious return of Jesus to gather His people to Himself, and the blessed hope that this second coming brings amid a broken world. In the context of The Parable of the Ten Pounds, Fr. Fabio encouraged the participants to the Heavenly King’s return with joy and excitement instead of fear and terror in their hearts like the servant in the aforementioned parable (Luke 19;21). Moreover, Fr. Fabio urged the attendees to imitate Zaccheus’ great desire and determination to see Jesus when he learned about His arrival in Jericho, as well as Zaccheus’ enthusiasm and eagerness to receive Jesus in his house that very moment they met.
After the inspiring talk, Fr. Fabio led a prayer for healing, restoration and wholeness. The Advent gathering was concluded with a Holy Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Lawrence Lee Len, Chancellor, Diocese of Hong Kong, and concelebrated by a Filipino Priest, Fr. Jerry Perocho, SVD, Assistant Parish Priest, St. Joseph’s Church, Hong Kong. Eleanor Gamier, TLF-St. Alfred Chapter, took part in the Liturgy of the Word (Second Reading).
All the attendees experienced a renewed sense of purpose and urgency to prepare for the return of Jesus with steadfast faith and unwavering hope. With open, hopeful and receptive hearts, they all look forward to the second coming of God, just as He promised!
