MEDICAL AND DENTAL MISSION AT THE HOLY TRINITY HOME FOR CHILDREN July 21, 2024

The Lords Flock Catholic Charismatic Community held a Medical and Dental Mission at the Holy Trinity Home for Children (HTHC) at Merry Homes Subdivision, Novaliches, Quezon City last July 21, 2024. It is a charitable Institution which was founded in 1993 by Mother Elena O. Suico, THDW (Trinitarian Handmaids of the Divine Word), whose great desire was to uplift the condition of marginalized and poverty-stricken families. With the encouragement of “Soar” Techie Rodriguez, four Lord’s Flock ministries (consisting of 29 workers) participated: Good Samaritan Ministry (GSM) led by Stewards Elena Garcia and Baby Salazar, St. Luke’s Ministry led by Dr. Gie Geronimo and Dr. Luvin Bernas, Touch Ministry headed by Ronie Ongteco, Mission Judea had Joy Valde and Gladys Quidio, and Harvest 3.  They worked together to minister to the children, provide health services and ensure the success of the outreach.

The program began with an opening prayer led by Elena Garcia, followed by a binding prayer by Baby Salazar. They all sang and danced in praise and worship which brought happiness and warmth to the children.

THE MEDICAL MISSION

The St. Luke’s Ministry initially talked to the staff, outreach workers and the eighteen (18) children to get to know their concerns; they were clustered into small groups and were supervised by Harvest 3, GSM, and Touch Ministry members. Dra. Gie Geronimo checked each child and gave them the appropriate medical prescriptions. All the children were also given free vitamins. She was assisted by Nurse Myrna.

THE DENTAL MISSION

The dental mission was headed by Dr. Luvin Bernas who treated 17 children: with dental caries, needed tooth extractions, were given fluoride application. He was assisted by the members of the St. Luke’s Ministry and GSM. Dra. Geronimo gave prescriptions to children after tooth extraction.

The medicines and vitamins were sponsored by Ms. Nen Gopez and Rosario Fadrigalan. Mission Judea and an anonymous donor provided the food.

Sis. Lerry Tapales of (THDW) expressed her appreciation to the workers for this humanitarian outreach. She commented that teaching the children values has uplifted their hearts and assured them of God’s blessings. Furthermore, the medical and dental mission enhanced the health and well-being of the children who have been neglected in the past.

Ronnie Ongteco offered a prayer of healing.  Both the children and the outreach workers felt blessed. They attested to the psychological and emotional boost that they experienced. The volunteers felt a greater sense of purpose, satisfaction, self-confidence, and sense of identity in being a part of God’s Mission.

Truly, God was working through The Lords Flock Catholic Charismatic Community. They felt the presence of the Holy Spirit in the prayers, the hugs of the children who communicated their affection and thanked the outreach workers for their empathy and understanding. This was really a blessed day for everyone.
