Bro. Bobby, Bro Froi & I were on our way back to the Heritage Center from our lunch outside. As we turned right into Quezon Avenue a big truck of ready mixed concrete crossed passed us. I asked Bro Froi what is the capacity of the revolving drum of the concrete mix. He said that it varies from 6, 8 & 10 cubic meters. He added that a concrete mix truck when it leaves the plant is given a time that they should reach its destination and should be able to pour the concrete before one and a half hour or less otherwise the concrete will start to set and will harden. Concrete that had started to set can no longer be used and must be discarded away.
I pondered upon what I heard as a “setting time” for concrete to harden. The Lord gave me an insight of a “hardened heart.” It is given a time before it hardens.
St. Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians 4:26 says “Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger.” Could this mean that we are given 12 hours of daylight within which we can be angry but we must free ourselves of it when darkness comes otherwise our hearts will harden. It will become as hard as concrete. Our minds will be “darkened in understanding, alienated from the life of God because of their ignorance, because of their hardness of heart” Eph. 4:18
In my 31 years of shepherding the community I have witnessed several members who were unable to deal with their anger, the Biblical way. Unknowingly they have allowed themselves to harden their own hearts which eventually led them to stay away from the Community. This has always been the tactics of the enemy. It will be very easy for the enemy to oppress a person no end when he had lost his support community:
